We envision thriving communities where every person has access to education, meaningful employment, and the resources needed to succeed—regardless of where they live.
Bridges International was born from a simple question:
“How can we help?”
While working with Indian Energy on a project in Sonora, Mexico, I had the opportunity to visit several Indigenous communities and witness firsthand both their incredible resilience and the challenges they face. Although many of these communities share the same cultural heritage as tribes in the United States, the differences in access to education, healthcare, infrastructure, technology, and economic opportunities were striking.
During that time, I had many conversations with the CEO of Indian Energy, who is also Indigenous. We shared a common concern for the future of these communities and discussed how meaningful, lasting support could be provided.
He expressed a desire to help but also shared an honest concern. He understood engineering and community energy projects, but he didn’t have experience building or operating a nonprofit organization. With my background in nonprofit leadership, community development, and strategic partnerships, we began exploring what a different kind of organization could look like—one built on transparency, accountability, collaboration, and long-term impact.
That conversation planted the seed for Bridges International.
Before any organization was officially formed, we decided that the best way to begin was simply to take action.
We visited a school in San Luis, Sonora, where students and teachers were learning in facilities that needed improvement. We purchased paint, fans, and building materials to help improve the learning environment.
What happened next confirmed everything we believed.
The community came together. Parents, teachers, and local residents volunteered their time, worked alongside us, and took pride in improving their own school. It wasn’t about receiving charity—it was about creating a partnership.
That experience became the foundation of Bridges International.
As our relationships grew, we continued supporting the school by providing computers and working with partners to bring internet access to students, opening new opportunities for learning and connection.
Those first projects taught us an important lesson:
The greatest impact is created when communities lead, and partners come alongside them with resources, expertise, and a shared commitment to their success.
Today, Bridges International exists to connect Indigenous communities with universities, businesses, government agencies, foundations, and volunteers who share a common vision of creating sustainable opportunities.
Our work focuses on education, healthcare, economic opportunity, community development, and cultural preservation—not by imposing solutions, but by listening first, building trust, and working together.
We believe that every bridge we build is more than a connection between organizations. It is a bridge of opportunity, respect, and hope.
What began with one conversation and one school has grown into a commitment to help create stronger communities for generations to come.
Together, we are Building Bridges. Changing Lives.
We believe lasting change happens through collaboration, respect, and service. By building strong partnerships and investing in people, Bridges International is creating opportunities that strengthen communities today and for future generations
Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or become a community partner, your support helps create opportunities that change lives. Together, we can build stronger communities and brighter futures.
